Polamalu has not been ready to practice

For those who care the Pittsburgh Steelers and the team’s star safety Troy Polamalu, they may have to continue worrying about the player’s injury on left knee, as he has not been ready to practice yet.

Wearing a heavy brace, Polamalu just watched his teammates practicing Wednesday and did not take part in any drills on his own. 30 minutes before the practice ended, he limped off the field without answering any question. It seemed that he will very likely not be able to wear back his Steelers jersey and play this Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Injuring the knee ligament while tackling the Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson last Sunday, Polamalu would miss more games just a few weeks after he returned from last injury, which he got during the Steelers season opener and caused him to miss four games.

Steelers safety Polamalu sat out second straight practice Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu sat out his second straight day of practice while looking after his injured left knee, but he is still expected to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings if he is able to practice on Friday.

After a four-game layoff with a torn medical collateral ligament, Polamalu managed to return and make an interception Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately he jammed his knee into the turf once during that game. However, later Coach Mike Tomlin indicated Polamalu was not reinjured on the play.

Polamalu is not believed to have had a setback in his rehabilitation, so as long as he could practice Friday, he will be seen wearing his No. 43 Steelers jersey in Sunday’s game as the Steelers usually require a player to practice only once in advance of a game.

Steelers safety Polamalu considered LeBeau more deserving than Lombardi

The Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu considered the team’s defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau deserving to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame even more than Vince Lombardi.

“As a football player, a special teams coach, a position coach, a coordinator, a head coach, nobody has done it all like he has,” Polamalu said of LeBeau, who has spent most of his coaching career as an assistant. “He’s done everything but own a team. He’s more deserving than Vince Lombardi, if you’re talking to me.”

LeBeau and former Broncos star running back Floyd Little are the two senior finalists for the Hall of Fame. The former has been an NFL player and coach for 51 years, and Little finished his career with 6,323 yards of rushing, 43 touchdowns, 215 receptions for 2,418 yards, nine TDs, and ranking seventh in career rushing when he retired in 1975. LeBeau had 62 interceptions and started 171 games while he was a player playing for the Detroit Lions.

Lombardi was a legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1959 to 1967. He won five league championships during his nine years of career and the NFL championship trophy is named for him.
