Coyotes had ninth consecutive win on Sunday night

Beating the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Sunday night, the Phoenix Coyotes made a franchise record with nine consecutive victories. By so far they have won eight straight tiebreakers, five during the nine-game streak and improved to 12-4 in shootouts.

“For a team that not supposed to have a lot of skill, we’re finding ways to win, especially in a shootout,” wearing the No. 1 Coyotes jersey, goalie Jason LaBarbera said. “We just have so much confidence in this room right now and I think that’s the big difference. The confidence right now is unreal and you just want to compete hard for the guy next to you and it’s working well.”

The last time when the team won nine consecutive games was in 1985 when the team was named the Winnipeg Jets that moved to Phoenix in 1996 to become current Coyotes. The franchise now has 97 points to match the Chicago Blackhawks for the most in the Western Conference, emerging as a black horse of this season.
